Israel Appeal

KMS embraces the value of Am Echad during the High Holidays, in part, through our Israel Appeal.  This year’s Israel Appeal provides us with an opportunity to partner with modern-day halutzim (pioneers) who are addressing the most pressing social issues in their community and seeking to strengthen ties to Jewish life. Garin Ometz Akko represents many of the values we hold dear.

Throughout Israel there are communities of young adults and families who are working as volunteers to bring about significant social change on a community-by-community basis. Through our tzedakah, KMS will partner with Garin Ometz Akko. Over 130 national-religious families have made Akko (in northern Israel) their home and they work with the residents of the city to improve the educational opportunities for the city’s most disadvantaged children, provide for the welfare of its poorest families through a large Chesed Center, and nurture the spiritual lives of all residents through a Hesder Yeshiva which organizes Jewish holiday celebrations and classes on Judaism throughout the city. Akko is one of the most “mixed” cities in Israel. Of its 55,000 residents, 20% are immigrants from the FSU and 28% are Israeli Arabs. The Garin’s activities have strengthened the city in many ways and helped stem the negative migration of its stronger families. You can learn more about Garin Ometz Akko by clicking on the links below. We hope you have learned about our partnership with the Garin through articles published in Kol Mevaser. We encourage you to visit the Garin during your next trip to Israel. This is a unique opportunity to strengthen Israeli society.

This year, KMS will hold its annual Israel Bond appeal in the spring. If it is your custom to invest in Israel Bonds at this time of year, please use the link on the KMS home page to contact the Israel Bonds office to make your purchase.  More information about the types and yields of Israel bonds is found on their website, www.israelbonds.com .

Each contribution to Israel, whether philanthropic or economic investment, no matter the amount, strengthens Israel as the homeland of the Jewish People.
Thank you!
