Policy Updates 10-1-20

Dear KMS Members,

As we monitor the uptick in Coronavirus cases both around the country and in our own community, the KMS Reopening Task Force has decided that, in an effort to continue to stay ahead of the curve and to create a safe davening environment for our members, the following changes to KMS safety protocols will be implemented effective immediately (i.e. as of the first days of Sukkot):

  • Only Kemp Mill residents will be allowed to attend KMS minyanim. Unfortunately this means that unmarried children who are coming home from college, married children, parents, and extended family who live out of town and will be here for chag or Shabbat may NOT attend KMS minyanim.
  • We are discouraging members who are hosting out-of-town guests from coming to KMS minyanim due to potential spread of Coronavirus.
  • If anyone in your household has tested positive for Coronavirus, no one else in that household may attend KMS minyanim until 14 days after the patient is determined by their medical provider to no longer be infectious.
  • If anyone in your household has been required to quarantine but has not displayed symptoms or tested positive for Coronavirus (i.e. a child who was in a class with someone who tested positive and the child is quarantining without symptoms) you may come to shul.
  • Masks with external valves, bandanas, and neck gaiters are not permitted.

Several reminders as we endeavor to maintain the health and safety standards we have implemented since our first minyan following our closure:

  • When attending a minyan at KMS, you must stay by your seat at all times. Please do not wander around or congregate near the back of the tents at any point before, during, or after davening.
  • Masks must be worn anywhere on our campus. This includes when walking into the parking lot and getting out of your car in addition to during davening.

While we understand that some of these updates may be challenging, we are grateful for our shared desire for the good health and safety of our entire community and the world.

Wishing you all a Chag Sameach and a safe and healthy new year.
